The Child Poverty Action Group (CPAG) has today launched a Barrow Cadbury Trust-sponsored study which details the cost of child poverty to every local authority in the country.
 
The report, ‘Local Authorities and Child Poverty: Balancing Threats with Opportunities’ was a launched at a CPAG conference in Birmingham, the worst affected area of the UK, where more than 84,000 children are currently living below the poverty line, defined as families living on less than 60% of the average UK household income.
 
CPAG now aims to work with local authorities in order to help them fulfil their obligations under the Child Poverty Act and implement effective strategies in their areas to eliminate child poverty in their areas.
