The Low Commission, an independent inquiry into the future of Social Welfare Law and advice, is seeking the input of parties with experience of the sector as it completes its draft report.

The Commission is chaired by Lord Colin Low and is investigating the future of legal support around issues including benefits, community care, debt, education (including special educational needs), employment, housing and immigration. It is independent of Government, political parties and advice providers – and funded by a number of foundations, including the Barrow Cadbury Trust.

The Commission has now closed its evidence gathering phase, but will continue to seek the views of those working in and around the advice sector through its consultation process. The Commission will consult on its draft report and emerging recommendations next month at the following events:

Cardiff on 4 September
London on 5 September
Manchester on 19 September

The events will take place between 1.30pm and 4.30pm.
