Uncertain futures: The EU settlement scheme and children and young peoples’ right to stay in the UK
In the wake of Brexit, children and young people faced a number of barriers to settlement, some of which were the result of policy decisions made by the Home Office in designing the scheme, and others which were pre-existing practical obstacles. A lack of legal advice and assistance exacerbated these problems.
This report outlines the barriers to settlement demonstrated by the work CCLC did with children and young people and makes recommendations for the ways in which the government could have ensured that these barriers were overcome as the EU settlement scheme was rolled out.
