Gender Equality Global Report & Ranking 2018
Equileap has published the 2018 Gender Equality Global Report with a ranking of the top 200 companies making the most progress towards gender equality.
This year the US company, General Motors takes first place with L’Oreal, the French beauty company, in second place. The other three companies in the top 5 are Kering, the fashion brands company, also based in France, the US pharmaceutical business, Merck and Co and telecommunications giant, StarHub in Singapore.
The 2018 report tracks some positive changes in the performance of the leading companies, but across the corporate world as a whole so far there is little sign that gender balance is being embedded.
This is the second year Equileap, an organisation set up to accelerate progress toward gender equality at work, collected data from more than 3,000 public companies in 23 countries. By making the gender performance of public companies transparent and comparable, Equileap want to enable corporations to understand how they can improve, hoping companies, employees, investors and policymakers will make use of the extensive data and all be part of a strategy of change to accelerate gender parity worldwide.
