Refugee women’s experiences of detention in the UK
Women for Refugee Women have today published a report looking at the experiences of 38 women who came to the UK to seek asylum and were detained in Yarl’s Wood detention centre between June 2012 and October 2014. The ‘I am Human’ report follows on from the longer report Detained: women asylum seekers locked up in the UK published in January 2014 and is intended to add more weight to those original findings. ‘I am Human’ found that the UK Government is still routinely detaining large numbers of women who are survivors of rape, sexual violence and other torture.
