Millie Hickinbotham

Millie joined the Board of the Barrow Cadbury Trust in October 2021, having previously shadowed the Board as part of its development programme. A qualified teacher with a background in financial recruitment, she now works within the Special Educational Needs sector.

Her experience supporting young people with additional needs, including some from care backgrounds, has reinforced the importance of the Trust’s Criminal Justice programme. In a previous teaching role, Millie also worked with pupils who had arrived in the UK as refugees and asylum seekers, deepening her understanding of the vital work undertaken through the Migration programme. Drawing on her earlier career working closely with the financial services industry, she also has a strong interest in the Trust’s Economic Justice programme.

Through her involvement with the Trust, Millie has developed a particular interest in the policy and decision-making processes that shape social change, and in how these can be influenced positively for the future. She values the opportunity to work alongside such a committed staff team and Board in advancing equality and creating meaningful impact.
